Fund Raising Event – Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund (2015)

1) What is the objective of this fundraising ?

On April 25th, 2015, Nepal was hit by 7.9 magnitude earthquake causing unprecedented damages to life and property. NAOO is coordinating fundraising activities to support relief and recovery efforts in Nepal.

2) How is the fund collected and managed ?

We have opened a PayPal account and you can access the account via our website (http://new.naoo.org/?page_id=161). Our volunteers are contacting community members in our database directly. NAOO will also reach out to other social organizations and seek their collaboration to appeal to their membership base for donations. Interested parties should donate directly or contact NAOO officers for further queries. Contact information is provided at the bottom of this page.

While the funds are collected, NAOO is exploring two options for fund disbursement :

• 1) NAOO as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization can donate 100% of the proceeds directly to organizations in Nepal. One of our executive member who is travelling to Nepal tomorrow ( 4/26/2015) will explore such possibility in Nepal.
• 2) After a thorough due diligence, NAOO will collaborate with other social organizations and provide funding through that channel.  Our primary goal related to fund disbursement is to use 100% of the donations directly to support relief and recovery efforts in Nepal.

3) Can I get a receipt for tax credit?
NAOO as a  non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization can issue a receipt that can be used for tax credit.
